Owl Hoot With Larry Luckey and Alvin Ward

Join local sportsmen and naturalists for a van ride to Fisheating Creek, where you’ll visit “Burnt Bridge,”  enjoy a weenie and marshmallow roast, and watch for owls and turkeys as they respond to your guide’s call.                                                  You should be out there for 3 hours.

Visit Diner Island With Dr. Paul Gray

Tour vast pasture lands, the ideal habitat for Burrowing Owls, Scrub Jays, Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes and a variety of other birds, as well as deer, wild hogs and more. Learn how a former Florida Cracker ranch has now become a protected habitat for the endangered Florida panther.

STA5 Wading Bird Tour With Vince Lucas & Margaret England

Tour the stormwater treatment area, owned and operated by the South Florida Water Management District.  This  vast, constructed wetland uses vegetation to naturally cleanse excess nutrients from water before it enters the Everglades. This  remote, shallow-water marsh attracts many species of nesting wading birds, migratory and other water fowl such as great blue herons, wood storks, snowy egrets, great egrets and fulvous  whistling ducks.

Regional Bird Tour With Dr. Paul Gray

Board a bus with Audubon’s Dr. Paul Gray to view burrowing owls...and more as you tour the wilder side of gloriously natural Glades County.

Fisheating Creek by Canoe With Dr. Robert Fulton

Depart from Doyle Connor Building to Fisheating Creek Campground, on US 27 in Palmdale.  From there you will go by van up the road a bit to let you paddle your way back down to the campground with other birders. You’ll see lots on your way.  Herons of all types, eagles, hawks, limpkins, ibis, gators, wild hogs, maybe even wild turkeys.  Take water, a snack, your cell phone and maybe a dry T-shirt.
